Iran and Oman are in discussions to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by establishing a joint temporary maritime corridor and clearing mines from the vital waterway. Oman’s Foreign Minister expressed optimism that a navigation agreement could be finalized soon, a development that quickly prompted a decline in global crude oil prices amid hopes for reduced regional conflict.

Although active military exchanges between Washington and Tehran have cooled, structural tensions remain high. Iran has blacklisted dozens of vessels to enforce its maritime blockade, while the United States is pushing for stricter economic sanctions against entities trading with Tehran. Nevertheless, signs of stabilization are emerging as U.S. officials indicate no immediate plans for further airstrikes, and the State Department begins redeploying personnel to previously evacuated Middle Eastern embassies.
