Russian gas exports to Europe via the TurkStream pipeline have been temporarily halted to accommodate emergency maintenance operations. As a result, supplies to Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina are completely cut off until June 10. Following the expiration of the transit agreement with Ukraine, TurkStream has become Gazprom’s sole remaining pipeline route into the European market.

Data from ENTSOG (European Network for Transmission System Operators for Gas) indicates that the technical interventions are taking place in Russia at the Russkaya compressor station, situated in the village of Gay-Kodzor near Anapa (Krasnodar Krai). This critical facility marks the starting point where the pipeline dives beneath the Black Sea toward the Turkish coast. Recently, the compressor station was targeted by multiple Ukrainian drone strikes, which potentially caused structural damage. Simultaneously, scheduled maintenance is being carried out on the pipeline segment managed by Bulgaria’s Bulgartransgaz.

The TurkStream network features two parallel lines, each boasting an annual capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters (bcm). In 2025, Turkey imported 7.6 bcm for domestic consumption, while European nations received a total of 18 bcm through the system.
