Canadian Mining Titan Lumina Metals Debuts on the Warsaw Stock Exchange

Résumé
Lumina Metals has debuted on the WSE, seeing shares surge. The Canadian firm plans a PLN 1bn investment in Polish copper and silver deposits, generating thousands of jobs and partnering with KGHM.

The Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) has welcomed a major new player from the commodities sector. Canada’s Lumina Metals, a company with expansive growth plans for the Polish market, successfully launched its shares on the WSE Main Market, marking the seventh listing this year. Investors saw immediate gains as the stock opened 19.05% higher at PLN 35.5. The upward momentum continued throughout the day, closing at PLN 36.10 per share—a solid 21.06% increase from its initial reference price.

This move reinforces the company’s long-standing presence in Poland, where it has already poured PLN 500 million since 2011. The listing is designed to secure further funding for its strategic mining ventures. WSE CEO Tomasz Bardziłowski welcomed the newcomer, noting that Lumina’s decade-long track record and its flagship projects position it to become one of Europe’s premier silver and copper developers.

The company’s market valuation is heavily backed by substantial mineral deposits in western Poland, including its main Nowa Sól site, alongside Sulmierzyce and Mozów. Lumina aims to deploy roughly PLN 1 billion into these domestic operations over the next five years. Canadian Ambassador to Poland, Catherine Godin, emphasized that this partnership highlights a natural alignment of trade between trusted economic allies.

The epicenter of this activity is the town of Nowa Sól in the Lubuskie Voivodeship, a project that enjoys immense backing from regional leaders. Sebastian Ciemnoczołowski, the Marshal of the Lubuskie region, hailed the development as a historical milestone and the region’s most significant economic triumph, following 13 years of careful planning. The venture is projected to create up to 8,000 direct jobs, with broader supply chains multiplying that employment impact significantly. Lumina Metals CEO Jordan Pandoff pointed out that their joint team of Polish and international specialists has uncovered three of the largest copper and silver deposits in Europe seen since 1957.

Furthermore, Lumina is set to team up with Polish state-controlled mining giant KGHM. The two enterprises recently signed a letter of intent to evaluate joint development options for the massive Nowa Sól deposit. The ultimate goal is for the Canadian firm to supply copper concentrate directly to KGHM’s domestic smelters.

Lumina Metals is utilizing a dual-listing model, making its shares accessible simultaneously on both the Toronto Stock Exchange and the WSE. This follows a highly successful Canadian IPO finalized in late April 2026, which stood out as Canada’s largest public offering in the mining industry since 2021, raising 406 million Canadian dollars (over PLN 1 billion).
